Miami
We win Canyon Ranch Living in Miami; while the winning is grand, the vibe of Miami is curious. It's moneyed, but cultural -- to the arts -- vacant. The sensing is all about the transport of snowbird capital, from the north, to the south, from the far south, back to Miami. So it's a wonderful admixture, ethnographically speaking, but the polish of the environments belie what lies beneath the skin. Then, looking out, looking in, I ponder the storms that are emerging. Then, looking out,...
The Wanderer Found
After long, stormwashed and cast along, the Wanderer stone was found, buried under tons of washed pilings and logs, hidden, the gyrovague -- a stony meandering. Never lost, merely unseen... gyrovague (JYE-ro-vayg) noun A monk who travels from one place to another. [From French, from Late Latin gyrovagus gyro- (circle) + vagus (wandering).] "Other forms of religious life on Mount Athos fall outside these two major categories and include anchorites, hermits who live alone in secluded cells or in...

Something to the spirit…& sentience.
Hello and good morning... I find this, seeing this, an odd mnemonic to the day -- of Presidents, no less. I suppose that we associate eagles with the presidency, do we not? Not sure, entirely, what we are celebrating there...but it's today. An ancient word, below -- recalled in a different manner,...

NYC
My office in the city is across from Madison Park. Winterbound, trees are bare and as the chill moves in formally, the skyscrapers are caught in mist. Photo by Tim Girvin It reminds me of the illuminations of Raymond Hood, the 30s, his drawings of skyscrapers of enormous height, struck by spotlights from below. The mist rolls into the city, and the towers drift into nothingness, steam flowing off like lit clouds. Love that.
It happens here, that I think about you.
Morning has come. I sit, in meditation this morning Outside, cool winds running And I look off, to the distant Range of waters, that Shimmer in the moonlight Coming down, through The clouds, that move Like shadows. As I silence, my self, The waters continue Their whispering. And they are saying Stay clear, in the ripple Of the day, in time. In time with them, I'm thinking, like my Heart, beating slow Like the rhythm of The waves, churning In their gestured grasp Of the shoreline That is rocky...
