As I touch an idea, another comes forth, and I contemplate the strength of the ringed expression of that thought (a story, perhaps,) moving outwardly — this, arranged on a Fresnel lens — touching like ripples, but made of glass. Light as idea.

RINGS OF THE IDEAL

I carry the symbolism of this lens – the lensing of the lighthouse, taking the concentration of the idea(l) and beaming that illumination outwardly, in the succession of waves and circles that take us from one positioning of insight to another of clarity. And lighted ideas as guidance.

In the swirling mist of the waterside storm, steering inwardly, we make our to the firmness of the shore — from the liquidity of the open sea, to the inner sanctum of the shoreline. From loose, to firm. Landing, we are stable, gathered in the solidity of the soil — but we will go out there again. And I meditate on that idea — the light, the hardness of the rippling lens, the renewed focus, the 360º of perspective. The lighted circle, the conclave: circumspection.

The poetry of the hard glass, diffusing the waves of liquid light — a beacon of illumination — sharing ideas. And that rippling, those ideas, can spread far and wide. The long reach of the light, the idea.
