WAYFINDING, THE SIGN, MOVING TO THE RIGHT PATH
There is an art in the design of wayfinding, that links to the notion of the rightful way. A sign points — and where do I go? Is that — right?
What is right, turning in the path of the sun, which might be in the one solution — the light-filled movement. In others, it is the darker and more shadowed way. I go both, to the intuited calling — seeing there, I ponder: “which, to the sensing is right — for that moment?”
In the legacy of finding the way, there are signs that reveal themselves, in settling the cartography of rightness.
For me, as a journeyer, the idea of seeking — and seeing — the right way speaks to the mystery of sensing opportunity. There is curiosity in going the way that hasn’t been walked. That path, which might be the right one, takes the walker to a place that remains undiscovered.
Curiosity is part of the wayfinding art — the story told in the signing in a manner that lends to building an exploratory mind. If there is a sign, then do I go there?
Adventure persists in the study of signs — metaphorically, symbolically and otherwise — that notation points to something. Traveling that journey, I go there, I go beyond, and momentum carries me forward.
Could goodness be found there? Could I discover something of good, and wonder fullness? Or could that sign take me to the commonly known and traversed shore of being? A wandering, to the shadowed side. Or moving in the mist between the two.
Moving, all ways, the way.
